Programme of prevention and early diagnosis of digestive system cancer

The programme is aimed at reduction of gastric carcinoma and colorectal cancer incidence and increasing the proportion of early diagnosed cancers in the Greater Poland region through:

  • primary prevention activities involving: reduction of exposure to passive and active smoking, development of healthy eating habits and providing education on the strategies for coping with stress to the inhabitants of Greater Poland,
  • primary prevention activities involving: development of healthy eating habits and increase of physical activity in Greater Poland,
  • secondary prevention activities involving: endoscopic examination (colonoscopy) as a screening test for colorectal cancer.
  • secondary prevention activities involving: endoscopic examination (gastroscopy with optional histopathology examination) as a screening test for stomach cancer,
  • reducing waiting time, improving accessibility to and the quality of diagnosis and treatment through the upgrade of diagnostic equipment in the facilities that execute the programme.

Programme recipients:

  • primary prevention activities will be aimed at working inhabitants of the Greater Poland older than 35
  • secondary prevention activities will be aimed at the inhabitants of Greater Poland older than 40 years of age who attend their GP regularly or patients with dyspeptic problem visiting the gastroenterological clinic.
  • secondary prevention activities will be aimed at people older than 45 years of age who attend their GP regularly and who within the last 10 years have not been performed a colonoscopy

Programm of prevention and early diagnosis of digestive system cancer includes following examinations:

  • Gastroscopy
  • Colonoscopy



Who can register?

  • osoby po 40 roku życia u których występują objawy będące wskazaniem do wykonania gastroskopii np.: zgaga, wymioty, ból w nadbrzuszu.
